CASA of Scotts Bluff County is hiring a Volunteer Coordinator (paid position) to join our team.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator provides direct support, supervision, and training to volunteer advocates
serving children who are victims of abuse and neglect within the Juvenile Court system. This position
plays a key role in case management, volunteer development, court collaboration, and community
outreach to ensure children receive appropriate services, advocacy, and placement recommendations.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about
supporting volunteers in meaningful, mission-centered work. The ability to work effectively with
sensitive and confidential information is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Case Management & Court Involvement

  • Provide case management support for child victims of abuse and neglect
  • Review new cases and assign volunteer advocates appropriately
  • Attend pre-hearing conferences and court hearings as needed; track court dates
  • Review case information from the courts and the Department of Health and Human Services
    and discuss updates with volunteer advocates
  • Collaborate with county attorneys, legal representatives, and caseworkers to provide
    recommendations for victim services
  • Assist volunteers in preparing and reviewing court reports
  • Provide referrals to community agencies and service organizations and make recommendations
    to the court regarding services and placement
  • Conduct case reviews and evaluate progress and outcomes
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide updates on case progress

Volunteer Supervision, Training & Support

  • Supervise volunteer advocates and provide ongoing guidance and support
  • Maintain regular (at least monthly) contact with volunteers
  • Support volunteers with court accompaniment, case planning meetings, and court reporting
  • Provide and coordinate volunteer training
  • Assist with screening and interviewing volunteer applicants, including background and reference
    checks
  • Maintain volunteer records and track volunteer hours in the database

Recruitment & Community Outreach

  • Recruit volunteers through community engagement, public speaking, and outreach efforts
  • Promote CASA services through brochures, flyers, radio, social media, and other media
    platforms
  • Represent CASA at community events and presentations
  • Support ongoing awareness efforts about child abuse and neglect and CASA services

Program Administration

  • Maintain accurate volunteer and case records and documentation
  • Track volunteer hours and program metrics
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure volunteers are appropriately supported and assigned
  • Assist with reporting requirements as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings and organizational planning as appropriate

Professional Development

  • Participate in training opportunities offered by the Nebraska CASA Association and other
    relevant organizations
  • Stay informed on topics related to child welfare, trauma, and the juvenile court system

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and professionals
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

Preferred

  • Associates degree or higher, or minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare, child
    abuse/neglect, or the juvenile court system
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or recruiting volunteers
  • Experience with public speaking or community outreach

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primarily in-office work with required attendance at court hearings and meetings
  • Standard work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Occasional evening meetings, trainings, and limited weekend commitments (such as
    conferences and fundraising events) are required
  • This position offers flexibility, allowing additional hours worked outside the regular schedule to
    be flexed within the workweek in coordination with the Executive Director
  • Completion of 30-hour pre-service training and annual continuing education requirements
  • Professional attire for court; business casual for office work

Wages and benefits

  • Wage: $20.50/hour
  • Paid Time Off: 14 hours/month (prorated for part-time, not usable during first 3 months
    without approval)
  • Paid Holidays: 14 annually
  • Bereavement Leave: 5 days for immediate family
